James 5

The Lord is Compassionate and Merciful

James is a guide to moving beyond professions of faith to a life of tangible authentic Christian action and integrity.

Warnings to the abusive:

James 5:1–6

Being patient in the “Wait”

James 5:7-11

Strong encouraging directives:

Be patient - until the coming of the Lord

See how - wait for the precious fruit

Waiting patiently - until it receives the early and latter rain

You also - (being not alone) be patient

Establish your hearts - for the coming of the Lord is at hand

Do not grumble - less you be condemned. Consider again vs. 1-6

Behold, - the Judge is standing at the door!

Take the Prophets - who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.

Indeed we count them Blessed who endure.

A few of the many lessons of Job:

The ultimate goal and purpose of God in allowing the suffering of Job and how it pertains to us.

Perseverance:

God’s intended end

Ephesians 3

The compassion and mercy of the Lord

2 Corinthians 1

The Lord is compassionate and merciful:

There was good reason

There was restriction (the invisible hand of stay)

He was sustained

The outcome

Very compassionate: define

Very merciful: define

Unspeakable advantage:

He who tested with one hand supported with the other.

Matthew 28
