2025 01 Jan 15 Wed Night Live Gal.3:1-5
Review: Why Paul Wrote This Letter & His Concerns. Gal.1:6-7; Gal.2:14-16,19-20.
In This Next Section (Gal.3:1-4:7) Paul Shows Justification Is By Faith And Not By
Works Or The Law.
Justification: forgiveness of sins & righteous standing with God thru faith in Jesus
Christ. Rom.1:16-17, 5:1; Gal.3:11,24.
Gal.3:1-5 Paul Discusses Believers Should Correct Error (v.1), The Holy Spirit Is
Received By Faith Not By Observing The Law (v.2), Believers Grow By Faith Not By
Works Of The Flesh (v.3), Believers Can Suffer Because Of Their Faith (v.4), and
Believers Experience God’s Miracles By Faith Not By Works Of The Law (v.5).
Gal.3:1 Foolish—unthinking, unwise, lacking intelligence. Bewitching—‘evil eye,’
to utter foolish babble, to mislead. To turn to law from grace is to be bewitched.
Christ’s death was clearly portrayed by Paul’s preaching. Jas.1:13-16.

Gal.3:2-3 The law can’t impart the Holy Spirit; the law can’t bring perfection; the
law can’t work miracles (Gal.3:5). Eph.2:8-10. Perfect: accomplish, finish. False
teachers insisted ‘perfect’ Christianity included obedience to the law.
Gal.3:4 Was their conversion by grace and subsequent persecution meaningless?
Gal.3:5 Their conversion and the miracles among them were by God’s grace. 1
Cor.12:7-11; Acts 14:8-15. God supplies the Holy Spirit by the hearing of faith(hearing the Gospel).
