James 1:12-16
Dealing with and overcoming the 5 stages of sin
James 1:12-16. The five stages of sin
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. James 1:12-16
1. Sin begins with evil desire (1:14)
The desire pulls at your soul. It entices you.
2. Evil desire conceives (1:15)
It gains the consent of the will, and when that happens…
3. Sin is born (1:15)
Sin has its own life, so no sin is an end in itself.
4. Sin grows (1:15)
And if it is not cut back, sin will keep growing until, in the end…
5. Sin produces death (1:15)
